August 7, 2011 New Crafty Lady Part 3
IT IS FINISHED!!!!! I have finally finished painting and decoration my classroom rocker. The rocker was a brown Cracker Barrel rocker that was my Grandma Short’s. I inherited it to use in my classroom 9 years ago….It’s been brown for too long. I wanted to spice it up ever since I saw this cute idea on pinterest. The first thing I did was paint it white….It took 3 coats. This chair sucked up some paint…whew!!!
Last but not least I added some sequins to my name….My husband says sparkly is my favorite color hahahaha!!!!

Well thanks to my wonderful new addiction pinterest.com I got a great idea for all my little odds and ends that teachers need on their desk like paperclips, thumbtacks, staples, and many more. I looked at theirs and decided to put my own personal touch. I found an old spice rack at the goodwill $1.00 . I cleaned out all the jars , washed them, spray painted the rack white and got flowers and ribbon from Hobby Lobby.(I could spend hours in that store I tell ya!) I spent about 6.00 for this project and I’ve already taken it to school and put all my stuff in it!
The last thing is my huge cardboard Junie B. Jones. In first grade we love her. We read many of her books. Books A Million was going to throw her away and I asked to have her. I am so happy she is on our word wall. I love her sign that says reading is fun:)

BUSY BUSY BUSY! I have been really crafty lately thanks to my new favorite website pinterest.com . I have been creating/crafting turning some of my old stuff to new treasures. The first thing I decided to make was a crayon clock.
- I took a clock I bought from IKEA for $2.00
- I got out my trusty glue gun.
- I spaced crayons accordingly.
Then I glued……..Then, I had to rip them off because….. I DIDNT NOTICE THE CRAYOLA SYMBOL WASN’T FACING THE RIGHT WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I tried to salvage what I could and reglued them all on. Some of the spacing is a little off but I thought it turned out ok:)
FINISHED CRAYON CLOCK
My next project was a writing display. I got the idea from jmeacham.com. I added my own twist of colors and also added email as a type of writing source. The point of this writing display was to add a teacher example once you teach that writing style. Once I teach each type I’ll just pin it to the board because it’s just a big piece of foam
